Stevie Blacke is a master of stringed
instruments and plays Electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin,
mando-cello, violin, electric violin, viola, cello, upright
and electric bass, banjo, dobro, lap steele, saz, sitar,
esraj, and autoharp.
This is why as an instrumentalist Stevie
has recorded and/or performed with some of the most recognized
people in the business including Beck, Michael Stipe,
Sheryl Crow, Lenny Kravitz, TuPac, Kenny Wayne Shepherd,
Snoop Doggy Dog, Chingy, Ludacris, Greg Allman, Ice Cube,
Aaliyah, Mandy Moore, Dan Hicks & the Hot Licks, Zakiya
and John Lee Hooker, Leftover Salmon, Matt & Greg
Bissonette, Mother Hips, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas,
Galactic, Lyle Workman, Kaci, members of the Grateful
Dead the Counting Crows and the Black Crows, and Zero,
to name a few.
Stevie has also recorded on numerous movie and television
soundtracks and radio commercials, written and recorded
string arrangements for over 100 Hip Hop, R&B, Pop,
and Rock songs, and has performed at various well known
venues throughout North America. Stevie appeared on the
Tonight Show with Jay Leno playing violin for Chingy,
Snoop Dog and Ludicris, and on a PBS show performing with
Minnie Driver. Recently a song Stevie produced is featured
in the New Harrison Ford movie "Firewall".
Stevie has a degree from the Berklee College of Music
and studied privately with Grammy nominated mandolinist
David Grisman. He was born in London, England and raised
in the United States.
