Gordy Johnson was priviledged enough to play with some
of teh best names in jazz inlcuding Rayburn Wright, with
Manny Albam, Chuck Mangione and Bill Dobbins. As wekk
as featured guest artists that included; Dave Brubeck,
Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie & Mickey Roker, Thad Jones,
Teo Macero, Chuck Mangione, Marion McPartland, Gerry Mulligan,
Oliver Nelson, and Toots Thielemans.
Gordy was awarded the 2004 Minnesota Music Awards "Bassist
Of The Year".
After college, Gordy began an impressive career recording
and touring the world extensively. He has toured with
such artists as Gene Bertoncini, Roy Buchanan, CBS All-Stars
Montreux Summit, Maynard Ferguson Orchestra, George Gruntz
Concert Jazz Band, Stacey Kent, Lorie Line, The Phil Markowitz
Trio , Chuck Mangione, Ricky Peterson, Dewey Redman, The
Paul Winter Consort.
His Network Television Appearences Include: The Mike
Douglas Show, Dinah Shore Show, Robert Klein Special w/Rodney
Dangerfield & Jane Curtin, PBS Big-Band Bash, Merv
Griffin Show, Solid Gold, Salute w/Dick Clark, Glen Campbell
