Curtis King is an amazing vocalist, with
a versatility that is rare. His repertoire includes pop,
R & B and jazz, and he has developed a unique and
personal style of vocalization, a sound that is African
and Asian inspired, often using body percussion - creating
a world vibe, or a personal language that speaks to many.
Recording artists such as Luther Vandross,
Natalie Cole, Billy Joel, Madonna, and most recently Trey
Anastasio (Phish) have benefited from background vocals
provided by Curtis. He has provided supporting vocals
for a number of concert tours as well - Carly Simon, James
Taylor, Steely Dan, Pavoratti, working with such notable
producers as Phil Ramone, Kevin Shirley, Barry Eastman,
Nile Rodgers, Jim Steinman, Russ Titleman and Arif Mardin.
In the autumn of 2001, Curtis performed
in the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Concert, United
We Stand, with Sheryl Crow, and the Concert for NY with
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. In May 2001, Curtis was
in Modena, Italy to work with Pavoratti on the "Pavoratti
and Friends" benefit concert. He performed with Pavoratti,
Barry White, Tom Jones, Anastasia and George Benson among
others. This was the 4th year Curtis has done that concert,
and he will be returning to Modena in 2002.
As if that is not enough, Curtis is one
of New York's top commercial jingle singers with credits
too numerous to list. And there are television credits
- Saturday Night Live, The Billy Joel Millennium Concert,
The David Letterman Show, and The Conan O'Brien Show,
and film credits - First Wives Club, Anastasia, Pokeman,
The First Movie, and Autumn in New York. And Easy To Die
(produced by Eames Yates) where he provided the spiritual
and moving vocals for this HBO documentary on suicide.
